Funeral services for Mr. Alvin DeBerry Hartley, age 79, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Old Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hartley passed away on Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2011, in Carthage.

Alvin DeBerry Hartley was born on Nov. 12, 1931, in Panola County, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Carrie Thomas Simmons Hartley. He married Addie Mae Wimberly on Oct. 30, 1955, at Old Center Baptist Church and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2008, after 52 years of marriage. He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers. Mr. Hartley lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a Baptist. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie and Calvin Hartley; three sisters, Bennie Cooley, Winnie Prather, and Mozell Bixler; three infant grandchildren; and a special niece, Donna Sue Boyett.

Mr. Hartley is survived by three sons, Alvin Wayne Hartley and wife Kim of Kilgore, Frankie L. Hartley and wife Carey of Shreveport, and Scotty Hartley and wife Laci of Carthage; one daughter, Melinda Gail Williams of Carthage; one brother, Burt Hartley and wife Bobbie of Carthage; one sister Mary Opal LePore and husband Angelo of Hartly, DE; twelve grandchildren and one on the way; and three great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Hartley.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Bostick, Lance Gragg, Adam Youngblood, Corey Youngblood, Chad Rawlinson, Johnny Gonzales, and James Wilburn.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Terry Smith, Thomas Singletary, Garrett Welch, and Corey Gonzales.
