Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Dean Jock Metcalf, age 69, of Beckville, TX, formerly of Trinidad, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmie Ferrell and Bro. Mike Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Metcalf passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 30, 2010, at her home near Beckville.
Alice Dean Jock Metcalf was born on Oct. 18, 1941, in Mankin, TX to Ernest and Faye Taylor Jock. She graduated from Trinidad High School with the class of 1960, earned an associate's degree from Panola College, and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Charles David Metcalf on Aug. 12, 1960, in Mankin and he preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1970. She loved all sports, having coached, umpired, and announced little league softball games in Beckville for many years. She especially loved the Beckville Bearcats and the Dallas Cowboys. Mrs. Metcalf moved to Beckville in 1960, from Trinidad and attended the New Prospect Church near Beckville. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Elmer, Delmer, Edward, Vernon, Baldy, and Bud Jock; and one sister, Betty Lou Stower.
Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her son, David Metcalf; two daughters, Kathy Williams and husband David and Donna Faulk and husband Bill all of Beckville; one brother, Sam Jock and wife Judy of Alaska; four sisters, Ester Ruth Abbe of Trinidad, Teaner Mitcham of Waller, Kay Hashaw and husband Archie of Hockley; and Kathy Prnka of Trinidad; 12 grandchildren, Kourtney Stogner, Jacob Williams, Jennifer Fournier, Katy Stogner, Cody Williams, Chase Williams, Allie Williams, Nikki Williams, Tim Faulk, Dakota Faulk, Devin Faulk, and Michelle Pena; and 12 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Metcalf.
Serving as pallbearers are Randy Faulk, Wesley Carr, Chuck Davis, Buddy Langford, Steve Metcalf, and Rodney Prnka. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Dallas Cowboys.
