Sis. Alice Faye Berry Jennings was born on Oct. 13, 1919, in Mansfield, LA to the union of Carl Berry, Sr. and Maybelle Berry. She received her early education at Pleasant Hill School in Tenaha. She also attended school in Dallas. At an early, age she confessed Christ and was baptized at the Bright Morning Star Baptist Church. She served in several capacities: Mother of the Church, Deaconess, Mission President, and Sunday school teacher. She also served as secretary of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Committee from 1970-2012.

In 1942, she married A.Z. Jennings. They celebrated 41 years of marriage before his death in 1983. To this union two children were born, Carrol Faye and Janet Louise. She had a great love for people. She could talk to anyone, and "Loved" sharing her wisdom with all she encountered. She had a magnetic smile and a wooing personality. That smile she would flash at any given time to any given person, that smile would let a person know that I am your friend and you can talk to me. Although she was not feeling well at all times, she had a will to live. "She was all here until the end." She celebrated that 96th birthday with a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Maybelle Berry; husband A.Z. Jennings; brothers, James Berry, Roy Gene Berry, and Carl Berry, Jr.; and sister, Altha Mae Rhodes.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters, Carrol and Janet; her nephew who she called her son, Little Roy; sister-in-law, Ruthie Berry; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews; a loving church family and many friends.
