Alex Bernard Jones, 35, of Lufkin, Texas, formerly of Carthage, Texas passed away Tuesday evening, June 25, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 13, 1988, in Marshall, Texas, to Alvin Bernard and Bernice Mitchell Jones. Growing up, Alex played Dixie League baseball and graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 2006, where he played football. He married April Lorreine Nolen on October 10, 2020, at the Antioch Baptist Church. Alex was a truck driver for Drewery Construction in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was an avid fan of the Carthage Bulldogs and the Dallas Cowboys. Alex enjoyed spending time with his family and was very involved with his children's activities, including coaching his son in sports. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jo Etta Mitchell, Arbie Lee James, and James Allen Jones; uncle, Calvin Jones; and aunts, Barbara Ann Mitchell, Linda Faye Jones Small, and Glenda Marie Jones.
Alex is survived by his wife, April Jones; children, Caden Jones, Bryson Jones, and Skyla Jones; parents; Alvin and Bernice Jones; in-laws, Rodney and Renee Nolen and their son Jake and LaVerle Spurgeon; siblings, Kendrick Jamel Mitchell and wife Ava and Alvin Gerard Jones; aunt, Joann Mitchell Parker Davis and husband Herman; great-aunt, Lillie Bell Steward; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Holland Quarters Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jarrod Booty, Ryan Valentine, Jonathan Gipson, Josh Remi, Larry Gipson, Jr., and Kraig McGaffie. Honorary pallbearers are Jamel Mitchell, John Ross, Colby Small, Lucas Remi Jake Nolen, Alvin Gerard Jones, Calvin Jones, Jr., Randy Steward, Zackary Gates, Brandon Jones, Brailon Jones, Jadarius Anderson, Jamon Edwards, and Darius Gates, Jr.
