A funeral service for Albert Tompkins, 92, Beckville, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Tompkins passed away on Thursday morning, June 26, 2014, in Longview.

Albert Burns Tompkins was born on May 18, 1922, in Panola County to the late Delma and Arrie Atkerson Tompkins. He retired from Getty Oil Co. where he worked as a lease operator until his retirement. Mr. Tompkins lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise Cariker Tompkins who passed away on Oct. 6, 1959; one brother; and one sister.

Mr. Tompkins is survived by his wife, Helen Tompkins of Woodville; three sons, Donnie Tompkins and wife Pat of Fair Play, Ronnie Tompkins and wife Bonnie of Carthage, and David Tompkins and wife Cathy of Longview; step-daughter, Susan Ramos and husband Sergio of Woodville; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Gene Giles, Dean Giles, Buddy Gossett, Sergio Ramos, Joe Perez, Bobby Leiman, Warren Jones, and Elton Wilkerson.
