Obituary

Akeem Ke'on Hooker, 35, of Dallas, Texas passed away Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on October 16, 1986, in Carthage to Karen Hooker and Allen Chaple. Ke'on graduated from Skyline High School, Dallas, Tx with the class of 2005. He attended Texas Southern University receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2009. He decided to further his education and received a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2013 and then in 2021 a Graduate Certificate in Project Management.His love for music led him to begin working at Music World while at TSU. There he met his work mom, Mrs. Lin and established a lifelong friendship. Having Big dreams, Akeem set his mind on moving to New York and there he was able to work at Def Jams and eOne getting to work with many famous artists and talents in the music industry. Ke'on was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and recently started attending Concord Baptist Church in Dallas.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Hooker & father, Allen Chaple; Grandmother, Gladys Pellum; Sister, Kiia Shanette Mitchell (Scooter); nieces, Jaz & Jade Mitchell; aunts, Gale Berry (Larry), Delphine Davis (Michael), Sandra Hooker (Rayford), Shanon Pipkin (Raydell) all of Carthage & Peggy Reagins-Sternes of Dallas. Numerous other relatives and many "best friends." A very special work mom, Mrs Lin Almanza. Akeem is proceeded in death by his great-grandmother Iaeline Jackson, his grandparents Helen and Cleveland Hooker, and his first cousin Adrian Berry Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.  A visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers are Jamon Edwards, Justin Daniels, Kemmy Henderson, Neketrian Pipkin, Ike Allen, and Rynon Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Gabe Hooker, Shantadius Berry, Sean Hooker, Garion Berry, Cleveland King, Marcus Sternes, and Nicholas Sternes
