Graveside services for Mrs. Addie Short, age 96, of Ft. Worth, TX, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Old Center Cemetery in Panola County, Texas with Bro. Mark Williamson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the cemetery on Thursday. Mrs. Short passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, 2010, in Nacogdoches, TX.
Addie Bell Prock Ballard Short was born on Aug. 29, 1914, in Sulphur Springs, TX to John and Alice Bryant Prock. She married Lorenzo Ballard in 1929, in Sulphur Springs and he preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1955. Mrs. Short loved her family and children, they were her life. She also loved working in her yard and fishing. Mrs. Short moved to Fort Worth in 1967, from Eloy, AZ. She was also preceded in death by her second husband; one brother; two sisters; one daughter, Mary Butler; and one son, William Ballard.
Mrs. Short is survived by four sons, Hank Ballard of Mt. Enterprise; Bobby Ballard and wife Patti of Old Center, James Ballard and wife Donna of Claxton, GA, and Fred Ballard and wife Carlene of Mt. Enterprise; two daughters, Helen Joyce Thompson and husband Aubrey of Ft. Worth and Shirley Reasons and husband Charles of Ft. Worth; one brother, Denny Prock and wife Julia of Casa Grande, AZ; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Short.
