Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Bell Hudson, age 88 years of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin Cook, Reverend Don Scott, and Brother Pete Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hudson passed away on Friday, February 3, 2006 in Carthage, Texas.
Ada Bell Hudson was born on November 6, 1917 in Rusk County, Texas to Tom and Pearl Gill Barton. Mrs. Hudson graduated from New London High School in 1935 and later studied and became an LVN. She married Eurby Hudson on September 6, 1938 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Panola County. Mrs. Hudson worked for Panola General Hospital for 30 years. Her profession was nursing but she was also a caregiver to many people during her life. She loved bingo, her vegetable garden, and owned Hudson Bait and Grocery at Lake Murvaul. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. Mrs. Hudson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 20, 1985, and two brothers, Alvin and Julius Barton.
Mrs. Hudson is survived by her son, Herb Hudson and wife Ada Lee of Carthage, two grandchildren, Melanie Hudson of Longview and Randy Hudson and wife Sheila of Heath; five great-grandchildren, Haylea Elyse Hudson, Hunter Laken Hudson, Jace Randell Hudson, John Ross Hudson, and Hayden Bryce Hudson.
Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Smith, Richard Sullivan, Hal Horton, Gene Campbell, Jerry Dorman, John Pace, and Bobby Etheredge. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jay Coxen, Waymon Grimes, H.D. Biggers, Howard McDonald, and Byron Williams.
