Obituary

Aalon Wilkins, 76, of Carthage, Texas, passed away January 12, 2023, at his home in Carthage. He was the youngest of twin boys born on February 11, 1946, in Kerens, Texas, to the late Joe and Nasil Roper Wilkins. On Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1968, Aalon married the love of his life, Wanda Lynn Cullum, in Athens, Texas. In 1976, he moved his family to Carthage, continuing his career with Texas Utilities where he worked as a dragline operator until his retirement. Aalon loved mowing yards, working on, washing, cleaning, and waxing his cars and trucks (the chrome had to shine). He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Aalon was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Hazel Jo Wilkins; and twin brother, Olin Wilkins

Aalon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Wilkins; children, Chris Wilkins and wife Michelle of Carthage, Traci Morris and husband Russell of Diana, and Lari Lea Smiley and husband Ricky of Athens; brother, Bobby Dell Wilkins and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Cameron Agnew and wife Kursti of Center, Dylan Wilkins and fiancé Madison Cichoracki of Carthage, Harley Baker of Carthage, Lindsey Baker of Beckville, Brandi Yarbrough and husband Derek of Van, and Bryan Smiley of Athens; and great-grandchildren, Jase Agnew, McCartney Agnew, Trae Bailey, and Madison Bailey all of Center and Avery Yarbrough of Van; special nephew, Kenny Bullock; special niece, Shannon Jones; and special friend, Kay Curry Garrett.

Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
