A Masonic graveside service for Mr. A.B. Calhoun, age 95, of Carthage, TX formerly of Houston, TX, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at South Park Cemetery in Pearland under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home and under the auspices of the Park Place Masonic Lodge #1172 A.F. & A.M. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. Mr. Calhoun passed away on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2010, in Carthage.

Alpheus Baker "A.B."Calhoun was born on Jan. 24, 1915, in Houston, TX to Alpheus Baker Calhoun, Sr. and Laura D. Rather Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun graduated from Central High School in Houston with the class of 1933. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and completed his active duty service on Oct. 15, 1945. He then continued his service in the Navy and retired on Oct. 15, 1954 as a chief warrant officer. He married Melva Calhoun in 1970, and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2003. Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Park Place Masonic Lodge #1172 for over 76 years, the Houston Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Arabian Temple Shrine all of Houston. He moved to Carthage in 1997, from Houston and was a Methodist.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Calhoun Marshall and husband W.C. "Skip" Marshall of Houston; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Calhoun.
