Funeral services for Mr. A. B. "Buster" Davis, age 90 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Leon Veazey officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Davis passed away on Tuesday afternoon, December 25, 2007 at his home in Carthage.
Alexandria Bennett "Buster" Davis was born on June 17, 1917 in the Tacoma Community of Panola County, Texas to Gordon Bennett and Eunice Ray Davis. Mr. Davis graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1934 where he played football and was the captain of the team his senior year. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he also played football. Mr. Davis served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Ethel Mae Palmer on September 21, 1946 in Minden, Louisiana. Mr. Davis was a member of the Gary Masonic Lodge #1101 A.F. & A.M. He retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Company, where he worked as a supervisor. After his retirement, Mr. Davis returned to Panola County and was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Palmer Davis on May 25, 2001.
Mr. Davis is survived by two sons, Michael B. Davis, Sr. and wife Susie of Harlingen and Joe M. Davis of Carthage; three grandsons, Michael B. Davis, Jr. and wife Melissa of Harlingen, Preston A. Davis and wife Tiffany of New Braunfels, and Martin M. Davis of Gunnison, Colorado; and three great-grandsons, Michael B. "Trey" Davis and Justin P. Davis both of Harlingen and Tate Christian Davis of New Braunfels. Mr. Davis is also survived by his special caregivers, Opal Hunt, Mary Wilkerson, and Irma Champion all of Carthage.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the special care given to Mr. Davis by the nurses, aides, and chaplain at Southern Care Hospice of Longview.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Lawless, Kenneth Davidson, Craig Lawless, Michael B. Davis, Jr., Preston A. Davis, and Martin M. Davis.
