Henry Weldon Garrett

A funeral service for Mr. Henry Weldon Garrett, age 61, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Carthage with Dr. Allen Tilley and Bro. Bob Scott officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Garrett passed away on Monday night, Jan. 28, 2013, in Carthage.

Henry Weldon Garrett was born on Apr. 15, 1951, in Cherokee County, TX to Morris Weldon and Mary Nell Johnson Garrett. Mr. Garrett married Mary Stockstill on Feb. 6, 1968, in Houston. He worked for Carthage I.S.D. until 2001, retiring after 17 years. Mr. Garrett was currently employed by Pat’s Roustabout Service as their Safety Instructor. He was a proud member of the NRA. Mr. Garrett moved to Carthage from Lake Jackson in 1984. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage where he served as President of the Victory Sunday School Class. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Garrett of Carthage; his mother, Mary Nell Teer of Joaquin; one son, Henry Wesley Garrett of Carthage; two daughters, Melissa Turner and husband Brian of Carthage and Julie Williams and husband Cody of Henderson; one brother, Randall Garrett and wife Margie of Joaquin; brother-in-law, Wayne Stockstill and wife Jean of Union, Mississippi; and two grandchildren, Corey and Hali Turner.

Serving as pallbearers are Doug Yount, Jeffrey Sullivan, Luke Garrett, Brian Monroe, James Wolfe, and Cory Robinson.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Dwayne Yount.
